The iSecurity Base component delivers centralized license management, operational resilience, and enhanced system visibility across IBM i environments.
Centralized License Management
- A single license file supports multiple products across one or multiple LPARs.
- Automatically loads all relevant licenses for the current LPAR.
- Option to load individual product licenses as needed.
Improved License Monitoring
- The Check Authorization (CHKISA) command proactively alerts on upcoming license expirations.
- Excludes installed but unlicensed products to reduce noise and improve accuracy.
Live Partition Mobility (LPM) Support
- Fully supports seamless workload migration across systems without downtime.
- Automatic license reassignment during LPM events ensures uninterrupted compliance.
- The Work with LPM (WRKISLPM) command enables:
- Configuration of automatic license handling
- Add / Remove / Verify LPM license rules
Watchdog Monitoring
- Independent monitoring layer operating outside the standard iSecurity subsystem.
- Continuously validates that critical components and subsystems are active.
- Generates alerts (messages, email, or custom programs) if inactivity is detected.
- Configurable alert intervals (typically every few minutes).
Enhanced Data Visibility
- The Work with Collected Data interface (Base Support menu 89) now includes:
- Journal receiver size tracking
- Backup-ready data visibility
